Every scene and interview are evidence of all the brilliant work put into this documentary. It features several interviews with experts, including the former head of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Jon Wellinghoff, and Ambassador Henry Cooper, and Head of the Homeland Security Task Force, Dr. Peter Pry. This is no easy undertaking. We want to know how ‘Grid Down Power Up’ came to be?
This has been a two-year process and a labor of love. I’ve been a G geopolitical junkie for a long time concerned about this threat. I picked up the film that was only partially done from another patriot who had worked on it for years and I bought her out.
As the documentary unfolds, we witness the depth and distance of this threat to our Grid. When you began this momentous film, did you discover anything unexpected or uncover anything new? What did you realize while making ‘Grid Down Power Up’?
There were many but here are a couple of examples. I did not realize that the military had a process for protecting their strategic assets and they had left the civilian infrastructure completely vulnerable. I had no idea that Only a few grid substations going down could potentially cause a coast-to-coast blackout
‘Grid Down Power Up’, is an excellent example of a bipartisan examination of an issue that impacts us all. You present a uniting cause that crosses political parties. As this film circulates, are you concerned about the cynicism or partisan slants prevalent today causing people to not take this threat seriously?
There is always this thread, but you articulated it well that this is truly a bipartisan issue. Although those on the left may believe that our adversaries are not that sinister in their motivation, Russia’s recent action towards Ukraine could be causing them pause. but even if you think that there is no adversarial threat, there remains the risk of a geomagnetic storm.
‘Grid Down Power Up’ demonstrates your craftsmanship as a filmmaker. What other directors and films influence your work?
I do enjoy Dinesh D’sousi’s documentaries & films from Oliver Stone.
