WashingtonCamas volleyball wins five-set thriller to say fifth in state

The Camas volleyball crew wrapped up its season with a dramatic victory and a fifth-place trophy on the Class 4A state event on Saturday in Yakima.

The Papermakers (22-3) outlasted Puyallup in 5 units. Behind 2-1, Camas gained the fourth set 25-15 then edged the Vikings 18-16 within the fifth set.

Camas reached the fifth-place match by sweeping Davis in a loser-out match in Saturday morning. That clinched a trophy for the second consecutive 12 months and for the fourth time up to now 5 state tournaments.

With captain Kendall Mairs because the lone senior, Camas is well-positioned to hold this season’s success ahead. The Papermakers misplaced a decent quarterfinals match Friday to Lake Stevens, which pushed prime seed Curtis to 5 units within the 4A semifinals Saturday.

After falling within the 3A quarterfinals, Prairie noticed its season finish with a 3-0 loss to White River in a loser-out match Saturday.
