The Union boys basketball group used an 18-8 third-quarter run to place Skyview in a gap they couldn’t get out of in Monday’s 54-50 victory at Union Excessive College.

The Titans (13-4, 3-2) moved into second place within the 4A Larger St. Helens League, two video games behind first-place Camas with a pair of video games in opposition to the Papermakers arising on Thursday and Friday.

Pat Howe scored eight of his 17 factors to assist Union surge forward within the third quarter after main 28-24 at halftime.

Union’s Nick Burchett had 11 of his 15 factors within the first half.

Skyview (12-6, 3-3) tried to rally within the fourth quarter by outscoring the Titans by the identical 18-8 benefit Union had simply placed on the Storm.

Malakai Weimer, who led all scorers with 22 factors, and Gavin Packer mixed for 15 of the Storm’s 18 factors within the ultimate quarter.

“We didn’t match their intensity until the fourth quarter and at that point we had dug too big of a hole,” Skyview coach Matt Gruhler stated. “Malakai Weimer led the cost and was tremendous lively on each ends of the ground.

“But we didn’t make enough plays and made too many mistakes in the third quarter.”

CAMAS 84, BATTLE GROUND 34 — The Papermakers jumped out to an enormous first-quarter benefit and didn’t look again in successful the 4A GSHL recreation.

Jace VanVoorhis scored a game-high 22 factors, and Channing Nesland scored 10 of his 16 factors within the first quarter because the Papermakers construct at 28-7 benefit.

Ethan Harris added 11 factors for first-place Camas (14-3, 5-0).

Collin McGowan led Battle Floor (3-15, 0-6) in scoring with eight factors.

PRAIRIE 73, TUMWATER 54 — After trailing 19-15 after the primary quarter, the Falcons pulled away with a 24-2 second quarter for the non-league victory over visiting Tumwater (11-5).

The Falcons (11-6) improved to 7-0 on their dwelling flooring with their third win in a row.

Carson Morningstar led Prairie in scoring with 19 factors, and Malachi Patton and Ben Nkansah every scored 15 factors.

Women basketball

CAMAS 69, BATTLE GROUND 16 — Lauren Hood and Isla Lucero every scored 20 factors, and De’Chaiya Light had a double-double of 11 factors and 11 rebounds as Camas gained the 4A GSHL matchup in opposition to the visiting Tigers.

UNION 68, SKYVIEW 39 — The Titans improved to 14-2 total and 2-1 within the 4A GSHL with the win at Skyview. No particulars have been reported.

PRAIRIE 68, SKYLINE 49 — The Falcons received to inside a recreation of .500 total by beating the Spartans in a non-league recreation at Sammamish. No particulars have been reported.

SETON CATHOLIC 58, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 21 — The Cougars had no hassle within the Gorge, bettering to 11-0 within the 1A Trico League with a win over the Bruins. Seton’s win dropped Columbia (10-6, 7-4) into fourth place, a half recreation behind Kalama.
