NEW YORK — Former Vice President Kamala Harris is to obtain the NAACP ‘s Chairman’s Award throughout the civil rights group’s Picture Awards ceremony this weekend.
Harris, defeated by Donald Trump in final 12 months’s presidential election, was the primary girl and the primary individual of shade to function vp. She had beforehand been a U.S. senator from California and the state’s legal professional basic.
“Vice President Kamala Harris is more than a leader — she is a force of change, driven by an unwavering passion to shape a brighter, more equitable future. Russell, chair of the NAACP’s nationwide board of administrators, stated in an announcement Monday.
Different winners of the Chairman’s prize have included former President Barack Obama, the late Rep. John Lewis and the late actor Ruby Dee.
The Picture Awards, co-presented by the NAACP and BET, will happen Saturday on the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in California. Classes vary from entertainer of the 12 months to greatest film to excellent work of poetry.
