Academy apologises for not supporting Oscar winner Hamdan Ballal
The Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences has issued an announcement apologising for not publicly supporting No Different Land co-director Hamdan Ballal after his current assault and arrest within the West Financial institution.
The incident occurred within the village of Susiya, Ballal’s hometown, the place he was reportedly crushed by a bunch of settlers and later detained by Israeli navy.
The assertion instructed that the beating and arrest of Ballal was one thing that Academy members would have “many unique viewpoints” on.

“We regret that we failed to directly acknowledge Mr. Ballal and the film by name,” they continued. “We sincerely apologize to Mr. Ballal and all artists who felt unsupported by our previous statement and want to make it clear that the Academy condemns violence of this kind anywhere in the world.”
The assertion concluded, “We abhor the suppression of free speech under any circumstances.”
