“If you look at its proportions and structure, you can see that it’s a master violin, made by a man who was proficient in his craft,” stated Szandra Katona, one of many Hungarian artwork sellers who found the origins of the violin. “But the choice of wood was completely incomprehensible.”

Motivated by the contradiction, the skilled disassembled the violin, revealing Kempa’s hidden word — an obvious clarification, even an apology, from a grasp violin maker pressured by the brutal limitations of his captivity to construct an instrument that fell in need of his personal requirements.

Dachau, positioned close to Munich, was the primary focus camp established by the Nazis in March 1933. It initially housed political prisoners however later grew to become a mannequin for different camps, imprisoning Jews, Roma, clergy, homosexuals, and others focused by the Nazi regime.
