As the love of electronic music continues to expand, Cristina Hernandez, professionally known as Cristi Hernz, is carving a pleasantly surprising path with her latest project, Anonymous Frequencies. The Miami-based DJ and producer has captivated audiences worldwide, merging her Cuban and Spanish heritage with the energy of Miami’s music scene. Known for her eclectic, percussion-driven sound, Cristi channels the soul of Latin America and the vibrancy of her city, creating music that pulses with life and movement. Anonymous Frequencies, nonetheless, is not just another music show; it is a platform for the powerful, independent females in the music industry to tell their stories, struggles, and successes in the dominant male space.
Anonymous Frequencies
Cristi Hernz’s journey started young, as she began DJing at just 11 years old. Over the years, her artistry has matured, leading her to explore a variety of genres while always maintaining a strong connection to Latin sounds and rhythms. However, in Anonymous Frequencies, Cristi gets even deeper into the social context of music lovers, especially those that women endure. By means of short interviews, live performances, and narratives, Anonymous Frequencies highlights artists’ thoughts and experiences and matters like the lack of women’s safety at night and how artists are paid unfairly.
The project contributes a new chapter to Cristi’s journey because it combines her passion for music and an active stand against social vices. Recent episodes have spotlighted pressing topics that affect women in the industry, such as safety at venues and the challenges women face in male-dominated spaces. In a recent episode, Cristi featured Alyssa Johansen, Sarah Chan, and Pilhi Violet, all amazingly talented women in the DJ and music scene. These artists talked about their passion, life, and challenges they have faced socially and personally. The episode was great in discussing better ways of making society safer for women and other marginalized people.
Cristi’s Story
Anonymous Frequencies raises awareness about safety in nightlife. In collaboration with the show, Cristi recently launched a poll that asked women about their experiences with safety while out at events. The results revealed that more than 5000 women reported feeling unsafe, and thousands had had their drinks spiked. Cristi shared her personal story of being drugged at one of her own events, a traumatic experience that took place in front of hundreds of spectators. The only way Cristi’s body could reject the drug was because she hadn’t eaten anything all day. The two individuals who drugged her also had her car keys and kept shooing away the onlookers. Imagine being attacked at your own show!
Self-Defense by Cristi
To further this mission, Anonymous Frequencies also promotes safety products, like drink cover scrunchies and self-defense keychains, tools that can provide peace of mind for women who enjoy nightlife. The complete range of products includes a versatile and durable drink-coverable scrunchie (in a variety of colors), a multi-function, 11-piece self-defense keychain, and a 20mL pepper spray keychain, all guaranteed to provide women peace of mind when they go out.
Cristina Hernandez’s Anonymous Frequencies is more than a music show—it’s a movement. By combining beats with personal stories and social issues, Cristi has created a space that’s welcoming, safe, and alive with the rhythm of advocacy. For
music lovers and advocates alike, Anonymous Frequencies is a must-watch journey of music and the resilience of those who make it.
