Ben Nkansah hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 20 seconds to play, then drew a cost with six seconds left to propel the Prairie boys basketball group to a 60-55 win over Mountain View on Tuesday night time, clinching the 3A Better St. Helens League title for the Falcons.
A decent sport the entire method, Prairie took a 55-52 lead with just below three minutes to play on a three-point play by Carson Morningstar.
Mountain View rallied to tie the sport 55-55 on a basket by Malcolm Weatherspoon after which a free throw by Tre’von Hughes-Farmer with 52 seconds left.
With the shot clock winding down, Nkansah buried the go-ahead 3-pointer to place Prairie up 58-55. On Mountain View’s subsequent possession, Nkansah drew a cost in the important thing to thwart the Thunder’s comeback try.
Morningstar sealed the win with two free throws with 4.7 seconds left.
Morningstar led the Falcons (13-6, 6-1 3A GSHL) with 29 factors, whereas Nkansah added 13, together with three 3-pointers.
Jack Fournier led the Thunder with 21 factors. Hughes-Farmer had 15 factors, whereas Weatherspoon, who battled foul bother within the second half, had 12 factors.
Mountain View (13-7, 5-3) will advance to the 3A bi-district match because the league’s No. 2 seed.
