WashingtonCamas metropolis councilor proclaims shock resignation

Bonnie Carter, the longest-serving member of the Camas Metropolis Council, resigned unexpectedly Monday night time. She informed Mayor Steve Hogan and different council members that she deliberate to remain in her place via the council’s Feb. 3 assembly.

“It’s really bittersweet,” Carter informed the Camas-Washougal Publish-File on Tuesday. “I will miss the staff and the policy work, but 10 years is a good, solid time to serve, and I really believe that a fresh perspective and new leadership is good.”

Carter, 55, who works as an administrative secretary at Skyridge Center College in Camas, jumped into native politics in early 2015, when she was appointed to the Camas Metropolis Council’s Ward 2 place. Voters elected Carter to a full time period in November 2015.

“I am really grateful that they trusted me to be their voice,” Carter stated of the voters. “I’m really grateful for that trust. And I hope I represented them well.”
