Donald Trump calls JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon ‘overrated’ for backing Nikki Haley

Former President Donald Trump attacked JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon for complimenting Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley Thursday.

“Highly overrated Globalist Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMORGAN, is quietly pushing another non-MAGA person, Nikki Haley, for President,” Mr. Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “I’ve never been a big Jamie Dimon fan, but had to live with this guy when he came begging to the White House. I guess I don’t have to live with him anymore, and that’s a really good thing!”

Mr. Dimon has been vocal about his support for the former South Carolina governor’s bid for the 2024 presidency. At The New York Times DealBook Summit Wednesday, he told reporter Andrew Ross Sorkin that she might be a “better than Trump” choice on the Republican side.

“Even if you’re [a] very liberal Democrat, I urge you, you know, help Nikki Haley, too,” Mr. Dimon said.

Earlier this month, the banking CEO had several private conversations with Ms. Haley. A top banking source revealed that Mr. Dimon admires her understanding of the economy and how business and government can work together to create economic growth.

Still, Mr. Dimon didn’t completely knock the idea of Mr. Trump winning a second term.

“I would never say that … ‘cause he might be the president,” he said. “I have to deal with that, too.”

Mr. Trump is known to attack those who back his opponents in the presidential race. He slammed Kim Reynolds for her endorsement of Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor who’s also running for the GOP nomination, calling the Iowa governor “disloyal [and the] nation’s most unpopular governor.”

Ms. Haley has continuously risen in the polls. While Mr. Trump has a healthy lead ahead of the GOP field, the former U.N. ambassador has a solid grip on third place.

In a national poll from 538, Mr. Trump holds 58.7% support among Republicans, while Mr. DeSantis stands at 13% and Ms. Haley nearly 10%.
