Dr. Phlill is a highly anticipated series, that was adapted from the original film’s success, and has been developing into a series for a while now. While covid may have halted the highly anticipated series, it’s still very much happening! Fans are thrilled to find out that, despite the pandemic delay, the production of the series is still going ahead and has officially confirmed to star Lilly Dennis as the lead role of Dr. Phlill. The series is now being produced by Vinet Films and is set to have a long list of comedy icons as guest stars.
The series is being adapted from the award-winning film, that was directed by Nick Conroy, which won Best Comedy Film at the Global Film Festival. The original cast, Lilly Dennis, Amy Letcher, and Blair Grobeck won Best Ensemble Cast at the Global film festival also. The film was a big fan favorite and was very quickly picked up to be transformed into a series.
The series will follow the story of Lillian, AKA Dr. Phlill, struggling to figure out how to make herself the new reality star by attempting to destroy her roommate’s relationship, only for her to patch it back together. Her roommate, Addie, and her relationship with her boyfriend are completely smooth sailing. That is until Lillian decides her next ticket to becoming a reality star is by becoming the female Dr. Phill and using Addie’s relationship as her experiment. However, things quickly backfire and take a turn for the worse when her calculated plan doesn’t really, well, go to plan.
The series is confirmed to be produced mockumentary style, following in the footsteps of hit shows like The Office and Parks and Rec. It’s a very rare style of production, but when done correctly, it has proven itself to be highly popular with viewers and of award-winning caliber. This type of story is perfect for the mockumentary genre. Dr. Phlill is a series that is expected to be a big hit.
