Francesco & Maria, Hollywood most famous DP’s Couple

Today we have a quick conversation with Francesco & Maria, two Cinematographers on set at the same time!!

Q:
Hello guys, so let’s jump into the conversation… you guys are husband and wife, how is your life on set when you guys work together?

A:
Well, we love share set experiences together, I think when you work as head of department especially as Cinematographer you have millions of responsibility, sometimes you are under pression but the goal is always the same be the eyes of your director, so we offers to directors four eyes, why not? Sharing your passion with your partner at least for us was a gamechanger, it was a very studied decision but we have the same “cinematic eye” so we said each other “why not”?

Q:
When you guys work together on set, are you working always as DP’s or you guys are also flexible?

A:
Good question, so mostly we like to work as Cinematographers, we found this formula together and every single time that we can we love makes this happens, obviously sometimes can be not possible, we also have others skills as film crew, Maria is also a great focus puller people love her, I am also work on set as Camera operator, I love to make connections with others Cinematographers and film producers.

Q:
Very nice, so my next question is for Maria, Maria are you also a colorist right? Can you please share with us more about that? What projects have you worked as colorist?

A:
Yes I am! My love for color correction comes from my past, I was a photographer and editing my own pictures. When I already started coloring few indie projects in 2019, especially a short film that I directed called “Painted Survival”, (we got 6 festival awards). Then during the lockdown in 2020 I became a DaVinci Resolve certificated colorist, I did many courses online and slowly I intensified my knowledge, few months later i colored my first feature film. then slowly more jobs arrived, one of my favorite projects was “The Role Play of Life” directed by Pietro Barba, an Italian Filmmaker. Dduring the next few months I will be coloring for a feature documentary about the art form of projecting 35mm film print, called Loving Pictures” directed by Gaston D’Agrivieri an Argentine director based in LA, I’m very excited for the future

A:
Ok guys so what’s your plan for the future? Any upcoming projects?

Q:
Unfortunately we can’t say too much about future projects, we will shoot a feature film again as two Cinematographers called “UNNAMED” directed by Jessica and Mike Boss! They also are a couple (both are directors) so this will be very funny, can you believe that?
Maria will try to get more into the Color Correction, she is very talented and will be interesting to see her next projects as colorist, about me I was thinking to join the Local 600 the Cinematographer guild in Los Angeles, maybe as camera operator, will see.
