Harry and Meghan’s closing royal look was marked by silent tensions

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their final official look as senior royals on the Commonwealth Day service on March 9, 2020, the environment inside Westminster Abbey spoke volumes. 

Meghan, radiant in a hanging emerald inexperienced Emilia Wickstead cape gown, walked hand in hand with Harry, carrying a designer clutch—but behind the polished exteriors, tensions simmered.

Seated among the many royals, Harry and Meghan have been met with a cold reception. Prince William, acknowledging his youthful brother with a short “Hello, Harry,” exchanged little else. 

Royal professional Robert Lacey revealed that Meghan, tried to greet him with a heat “hi” after which “hello,” acquired no rapid response, including to the frosty temper.

However what actually stung was a last-minute protocol change. Anticipating to stroll in alongside the senior royals, Harry and Meghan have been as an alternative excluded from the grand procession, a call clearly outlined within the Order of Service for all to see.

Lacey later revealed that Harry was deeply harm, struggling to carry again tears through the ceremony—a stark reminder that their time as working royals had come to a chilly and unceremonious finish.
