Quick begin sends Seton Catholic women to share of Trico League title with 83-47 win over Kalama

WashingtonQuick begin sends Seton Catholic women to share of Trico League title with 83-47 win over Kalama

The Seton Catholic women basketball crew bought off to a scorching begin on Thursday.

And that was earlier than Remy Jenniges began hitting 3-pointers.

The junior would end with seven 3-pointers and 25 factors to spark the Cougars to an 83-47 win over Kalama, clinching not less than a share of the Trico League title.

“I work a lot in the gym at getting my shots up,” Jenniges stated. “So it was pretty good. It was just nice to be able to help out the team and all play to our best and make the shots when we need them.”

Madison Lee took the opening tip and raced downcourt for a layup within the opening seconds of the sport, sparking the Cougars to an early 8-0 lead.

Jenniges then buried three 3-pointers as Seton push its edge to 21-7 after one quarter.

“Going into it, we were just like ‘Let’s get going. Let’s start out strong, start out with a lot of energy,’” junior Riley Seymer stated. “Going into warmups, we wanted to start with a lot of energy, so that was really good. And I think just the quick start helped all of us just get energy and keep going.”

Jenniges knocked down three extra 3-pointers within the second quarter as Seton constructed a 50-20 halftime lead.

Seymer completed with 14 factors, and Lee had 15 factors because the Cougars (13-6, 12-0 Trico League) notched their eleventh consecutive win that included an exhilarating 35-33 win over Jesuit of Beaverton at house final Saturday.

“Tonight, I thought we played at a pace to our liking, physically to our liking, our defense to our liking and offense to our liking,” Seton Catholic coach Phil Kent stated. “We were scoring out of early transition offense, as well as half-court sets.”

Kent stated the crew’s ball motion created alternatives, and Jenniges transformed.

“Remy hit some shots,” Kent stated. “And that’s thing. When we get some movement, when we’re catching the ball in rhythm, the ball is passed on time to the right spot in rhythm, we’re a really good shooting team.”

The Cougars can declare the Trico League title outright with a win at Stevenson on Tuesday or at house Thursday in opposition to King’s Means Christian.
