Robert Laemmle, who took over operating the Laemmle Theatres chain from his father, died on Thursday at age 89.

Laemmle’s loss of life was confirmed by his son Greg, the third technology of Laemmles to run the native string of film homes. He’s survived by youngsters Greg Laemmle, Jessica Laemmle, Yvonne Ascher, Michelle Ascher, David Ascher, Carri Bisbee, Mitchell Needelman, Maitland Finley and Robert Finley, in addition to 13 grandchildren.
