The Port of Camas-Washougal’s effort to construct a brand new road within the Steigerwald Commerce Heart industrial park has hit a pace bump that may add about $200,000 to the challenge’s price.
McKay Sposito, a Vancouver-based marketing consultant agency, agreed to a contract with the port in 2024 to design and assemble forty first Road, which is able to join Lincoln and Grant streets close to the port’s industrial park. The agency has since requested a contract modification to handle “a multitude of issues” on the challenge web site, stated Jennifer Taylor, the port’s environmental and tasks supervisor.
“The project began with the wetland impacts … being far greater than expected, which triggered additional wetland delineation, topographic survey and environmental permitting work, and an alignment study for the realignment of the road, which was not anticipated,” Taylor Wilson, a challenge supervisor for MacKay Sposito, acknowledged in a letter to the port.
The modification extends to Jan. 1, 2029, and can add $212,183 to the challenge’s price range, bringing the contract quantity to $779,121 for skilled engineering companies.
