The Washougal College Board unanimously agreed to start negotiations with interim faculties superintendent Aaron Hansen on a three-year contract to steer the varsity district.

Hansen has labored for the district since 2001 and was made interim superintendent in April, when former superintendent Mary Templeton left the district for a job within the Seattle space.

“I was elated, very excited and certainly humbled by the level of support from the board members,” Hansen mentioned. “I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to continue doing the work that we’ve been doing this year.”

The district performed a neighborhood survey in December to solicit suggestions in regards to the superintendent place and acquired about 100 responses. Les Brown, the district’s director of communication, mentioned respondents indicated they have been involved in regards to the prices related to casting a wider internet for the superintendent place.

“There was a significant amount of support for hiring within,” Brown mentioned.

Hansen served because the district’s assistant superintendent of human assets and scholar providers from 2019 to 2024 and because the principal of Washougal Excessive College from 2011 to 2019. Beforehand, he taught math and science at Washougal Excessive College and Excelsior Excessive College.
