Will Smith and Alfonso Ribeiro entertained the world with their snappy comebacks and sensible jokes for six years on NBC’s sitcom, The Contemporary Prince of Bel-Air through the 90s.

The Unhealthy Boys actor opened up about his shut bond with Ribeiro and the way he helped in shaping his profession within the newest episode of the collection, Black Comedy in America. 

Smith revealed that he had loads of inventive relationships throughout his profession that remodeled his life, which additionally consists of Ribeiro.

“Where you meet somebody who understands you in a way that other people don’t understand you. And they’re able to understand you, then craft things for you to create and shine and explode,” Smith said. “Alfonso was that man for certain.”

The 56-year-old star lauded Ribeiro for his acting genius as he recalled a memorable audition for the beloved ’90s series.

“When he got here in for the audition, there was like no query. That is the one.”

The Oscar winning-actor additionally hailed Ribeiro’s dedication to work and his willingness to “risk it all” calling his dedication because the “comedic limb.”

“You know where you gon’ try this joke and you gon’ go out there with it, and you gon’ risk it all. And one of his big things, why he would commit so hard with the lines, he says, ‘You commit so the writers can know it doesn’t work.’”

He continued to explain Ribeiro “red-lining…giving everything” on a Tuesday, although they would not be filming till Friday. “The willingness to crash and burn is the only way you can be funny.”

Will Smith performed himself in The Contemporary Prince of Bel-Air whereas Ribeiro performed the position of Carlton Banks, Smith’s greatest pal and brother determine within the present.

The beloved present from the ’90s was reimagined in 2022 titled, Bel-Air, starring Jabari Banks as Smith and Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks. The reboot has been renewed for forth and last season.
