Camas Excessive senior Chase McGee set an all-time state report within the pole vault Tuesday, breaking Washington’s oldest report in highschool monitor and area.

McGee cleared 17 ft, 5 inches at Camas Excessive College in twin meet in opposition to Union to interrupt a 56-year mark held by Orting’s Casey Carrigan, a former highschool nationwide report holder and Olympian as a young person.

Carrigan jumped 17-4 ¾ in 1969 — a 12 months after competing on the 1968 Mexico Metropolis Olympics at age 17. By 1975, he was the No. 1 pole vaulter in the USA.

McGee received the 4A state title final Might with a lifetime-best mark on the time of 16-6. His title-winning bounce in 2024 tied for third all-time at a Washington state meet throughout all classifications.

This spring, McGee has received the pole vault in each meet he’s competed in, together with two prestigious invitationals — the Oregon Relays (16-4.25) and Arcadia Invitational (16-8).

His earlier season greatest was 16-8 at Arcadia and matched at a house monitor and area meet final week.

The senior has signed to compete at monitor and area subsequent 12 months for Montana State.
